Provides direct care for at-risk youth in a safe and caring family style living environment. This position guides and teaches youth on appropriate skills and behaviors and provides youth with moral, spiritual and educational development needed for future success. Major responsibilities include providing safe and effective services, adhering to safety policies, attending safety and abuse risk management training, managing high-risk activities, reporting suspicious behaviors, providing direct care to children, collaborating with courts, social agencies, parents, and school personnel, assessing and monitoring youth skills and progress, using Boys Town teaching model, serving as a role model, supporting academic performance, attending school conferences, teaching Boys Town values, supporting religious and community activities, providing a safe and caring environment, using rational problem-solving techniques, monitoring off-campus activities, adhering to child safety policies, providing crisis intervention, planning and participating in family activities, teaching parenting and family skills, nurturing youth who are ill, providing transportation, ensuring safety, managing budget and household needs, assisting with home maintenance, collaborating with internal and external consumers, attending court as needed, preparing youth progress reports, tracking youth medical needs, and providing Behavioral Health Overlay Services in Florida. Requires ability and desire to work and live with youth, willingness to work flexible hours, sound judgment, knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to youth age, excellent communication skills, high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 21 years of age, valid driver's license with good driving record, and passing annual Motor Vehicle Registration check. Some college credits preferred. Physical requirements include mental acuity, physical strength, agility, endurance, ability to lift and carry weights, and ability to perform household chores and activities with youth.
