Experienced Mechanical Assemblers to join a high-profile and challenging project supporting the US Navy in Newport News, VA.
The Experienced Mechanical Assemblers will be on a dynamic team, supporting our C5ISR system installations. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our Sailors.
SERCO supports the U.S Naval Ships with military and system installations. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
In this role, you will: \n - Supervise a small team or work independently.
\n - Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
\n - Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variations and the like and with
equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death. \n - Be attentive to safety (which is critical).
\n - Demonstrate the ability to working with blueprints, assembly drawings and sketches in completing a wide variety of assembly and subassembly tasks.
\n - Be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field.

ABOUT OUR SSM WORK! GET TO KNOW YOUR RECRUITER! Qualifications To be successful in these roles, you will have:
\n - High School Diploma.
\n - The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
\n - The ability to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation, and pass a drug screening.
\n - The ability to obtain an OSHA certification.
\n - Shipyard experience.
\n - A combination of 8 years of experience in the following areas:
\n - Ability to build simple connectors.
\n - Maintain HAZMAT locker & safety operations.
\n - Qualify as CP; advanced understanding of QA & contractual requirements.
\n - Read drawings (Apprentice level)
\n - Drill holes, cut metal, shoot studs & use torque wrench without supervision.
\n - Assist with HAZMAT control and safety.
\n - Ability to bolt/unbolt cableways, deck plates & equipment
\n - Operate light machinery/ equipment
\n - Position, join, align, wrap & seal pipe & conduit sections
\n - Firewatch/Cable Installer certifications
\n - Carry equipment & clean spaces
\n - Remove lagging & paint
\n - Safety: Conducts safety JHAs & is an advocate for Serco's "Zero Harm" program.
\n
\n \n - Have the ability to Supervise supervise lower level MAs & laborers.
\n - Ability to follow directions of senior employees
\n - The ability to use power tools, assembling both large scale and intricate mechanical assemblies.
\n - Experience in the fabrication and precision assembly of various mechanical assemblies.
\n - The ability to get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift.
\n - Willing to work more than 40 hour work weeks.
\n - The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.
\n - The ability and be willing to travel up to 10% to various work sites.
\n - The ability to work in Newport News, VA.
