Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sales Director - Events & Catering to lead, rebuild, and scale revenue performance across a multi-venue hospitality portfolio anchored by a flagship destination venue. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for driving venue bookings, improving conversion and profitability, and creating a unified, accountable sales organization across all brands.

The Sales Director will lead a team of 8–9 sales and support professionals , implement structure and discipline across the sales function, and actively cross-sell the full venue portfolio to maximize total client value. This role requires strong operational rigor, visible onsite leadership, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver total revenue performance across all venues, with an immediate focus on increasing venue bookings, conversion rates, and profit per event (PPA).
  • Lead, manage, and develop a consolidated sales organization of 8–9 direct reports across all sales and support functions.
  • Design and execute a unified, company-wide sales strategy encompassing venue bookings, catering, private events, corporate accounts, partnerships, and repeat business.
  • Drive cross-selling across all brands and venues, ensuring clients are introduced to and booked across the full portfolio.
  • Establish and enforce sales KPIs, reporting cadence, forecasting discipline, and CRM hygiene.
  • Run structured daily, weekly, and monthly sales rhythms including pipeline reviews, performance tracking, and training.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop sales leaders and individual contributors using repeatable sales plays, templates, and client engagement standards.
  • Maintain a visible onsite presence for key events, client meetings, venue walkthroughs, and sales-to-operations handoffs.
  • Partner closely with operations, catering, marketing, and finance to optimize execution, margins, and guest experience.
  • Address personnel and cultural challenges by resetting expectations, correcting underperformance, and rebuilding trust and accountability across teams.
  • Ensure exclusive partnerships and contracted relationships are actively protected, leveraged, and executed.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven Sales Director or Senior Catering Sales leadership experience within hospitality environments such as hotels, venue groups, country clubs, event-driven restaurants, or high-end catering operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-person sales teams (8–10 direct reports) and delivering predictable revenue results.
  • Strong track record improving venue bookings, conversion rates, average event value, and margin performance.
  • Hands-on, execution-oriented leader comfortable working evenings, weekends, and event nights as needed.
  • Excellent people manager with the ability to coach, hold teams accountable, and manage difficult performance conversations.
  • Strong CRM experience with a history of enforcing pipeline discipline, reporting accuracy, and forecasting.
  • Clear, confident communicator with a business-minded approach to sales leadership.
  • Ability to respect existing culture while making decisive changes when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing network of corporate clients, planners, event partners, or hospitality decision-makers.
  • Experience selling across multiple venues or brands within a single portfolio.
  • Background in catering operations, event management, or hospitality finance is a plus.

Success Benchmarks

  • First 30 Days: Complete team and pipeline assessment; implement weekly sales huddles, KPI dashboards, and standardized reporting.
  • 90 Days: Measurable improvement in booking conversion, restored CRM compliance, strengthened top client relationships, and visible team accountability.
  • 180 Days: Sustained lift in venue bookings, PPA, and monthly revenue; stabilized team structure; positive cultural and engagement indicators.

Compensation

Competitive and performance-driven compensation structure. Salary range approximately $120,000–$140,000 , inclusive of performance incentives, based on experience and demonstrated leadership capability.
