Remote job: No Telework eligible: Yes - as determined by the agency policy Travel: 50% or less - you may be expected to travel for this position Relocation expenses reimbursed: No Appointment type: Permanent Work schedule: Full-time Service: Competitive duties WHAT IS THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION (CI) DIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at the agency site. The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. The Criminal Investigator plans and conducts investigations relative to criminal statutes of tax administration and financial crimes, which may require access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP), and other related offenses... Performs other investigative and enforcement duties such as testifying as a Government witness, assisting the U.S. Attorney during the preparation of cases for trial, and conducting collateral inquiries. Obtains, evaluates, integrates, and recommends action on information items to identify large areas of noncompliance (e.g., major profession, occupation, industry, or wide geographic area). This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if progression to GS-11 is available, you may move in as little as three years. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of citizenship (examples: birth certificate, unexpired passport, certificate of citizenship or naturalization, etc.). Qualifications Federal experience is not required. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is prorated. By closing date, you must meet the following BASIC REQUIREMENTS: GL-07 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes investigation of criminal violations (e.g., fraud) with the ability to collect, assemble, and develop facts; ability to prepare reports; ability to analyze and evaluate evidence. Must relate to accounting or auditing of business or commercial practices of subjects investigated. OR Education substitutions as listed (graduate level education with accounting-related coursework or Superior Academic Achievement). GL-09 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL-07 in the Federal service. Includes investigation of criminal violations with accounting/auditing analysis; ability to gather intelligence, analyze data, prepare reports, and investigate complex claims. Substitutions of education for experience are allowed as specified. Special requirements Maximum entry age: reference to legal provisions for age limits for law enforcement appointments; may not apply to certain veterans. Physical, medical, and vision/hearing requirements are described; medical clearance is required prior to appointment. All medical requirements must be met at initial examination/test. Education For positions with an education requirement or substitutions for experience, submit transcripts or equivalent. Official transcripts needed if selected. Foreign education may be used if deemed equivalent to U.S. education; provide proof as required. Additional information 3-year probationary period may be required; initial fitness evaluation will be conducted. This is a non-bargaining unit position.
