Description:

Purpose:

The Tractor Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor with a flatbed trailer to transport finished precast goods to customers safely and efficiently, in addition to occasionally hauling equipment to and from job sites as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety and environmental policies and procedures without exception.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Safely operate a tractor and flatbed trailer to transport finished precast goods as dispatched within the timeframe allotted.
• Safely operate a tractor and flatbed trailer to transport heavy equipment to and from job sites as requested.
• Safely maneuver truck into loading / unloading position.
• Properly track and document activity log, trip tickets, and other paperwork as required.
• Accurately document and log work/rest periods and miles driven; retain fuel/toll receipts for submission.
• Perform and document pre- and post-trip inspections daily.
• Report any truck and/or route issues or incidents to dispatch.
• Communicate with dispatch and other drivers using proper two-way radio procedures and etiquette.
• Attend company-provided and/or company-sponsored training classes as required.
• Provide backup to Trucking division as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum of valid and current SC Driver’s License required.
• Clean driving record with no recent moving or driving violations.
• Prior experience operating a tractor with flatbed trailer preferred but not required.
• Current, up-to-date medical certification.
• Ability to accurately record mileage and hours driven.
• Ability to work a variable-hour schedule.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to be self-motivated and an effective team player.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, type, carry, kneel, and ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
• Ability to reach and bend.
• Ability to work primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.
