Roam is looking for strong engineers to help us build the first true Game Super App: an AI native, mobile game engine that lets anyone create, publish, monetize and play studio quality 3D multiplayer games with their friends.
Our goal is to finally let everyone make games quickly. Similar to how TikTok turned everyone into creators through easy to use good video edit tools, we'll turn every person into a studio quality game author without the need for any technical skills.
Users can make any world, objective, art, level, multiplayer, etc can be made in seconds. Since starting couple months ago, we have:
Locked in >1 000 gaming & livestream creators (100 K10 M followers each) who will launch Roam-made titles to an aggregate reach of 250 M+ fans.
Assembled a tightteam of SAIL researchers, ex-Voodoo / Supersonic studio founders who have already shipped 100+ mobile game hits, and built AI infra for numerous companies.
Raised an unannounced round from a great VC, who are investors in Pokemon Go, Twitch, SpaceX, Polymarket and founders of similar companies.
You will help build the core of our mobile engine and toolset in Unity, enabling anyone to author 3D multiplayer experiences in seconds. This role demands both deep technical expertise and a passion for making powerful gamecreation tools accessible to nontechnical users.
Architect and implement a seamless bridge between Unity runtime and our native iOS frameworks
Build and optimize realtime 3D systems for world generation, networked multiplayer, AIdriven gameplay, and live streaming
Design and maintain reusable Unity UI components and editor extensions to accelerate feature iteration
Profile and tune performance across CPU, GPU, memory, and network to guarantee sub60 fps on a wide range of devices
Collaborate with design and AI teams to integrate machinelearning tools directly into Unity workflows
Own endtoend feature developmentfrom design spec through testing, analytics, and live deployment
5+ years of professional Unity development experience, shipping at least one 01 game or tool
Deep knowledge of C#, ECS or DOTS, Scriptable Render Pipelines, and the Unity Editor API
Proven track record of optimizing largescale Unity projects for performance and stability
Strong product instincts for usability, authoring workflows, and tool UX
Experience building multiplayer game systems (state sync, rollback, matchmaking)
Background in AI/ML integration or procedural content generation in Unity
Led a small engineering team or mentored junior developers
Opensource Unity tools or published Unity Asset Store packages
Gameplay engineers get paid a minumum base salary of $50,000. The pay goes up to $150,000 a year base if you are truly exceptional. This is an addition to 0.1% - 0.5% equity.
