This role is responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of commercial properties. The ideal candidate has a solid background in property accounting and understands the intricacies of tenant leases, operating expenses, and reconciliation processes. Key Responsibilities We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our client's growing real estate accounting team. This role is responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of commercial properties. The ideal candidate has a solid background in property accounting and understands the intricacies of tenant leases, operating expenses, and reconciliation processes. Key Responsibilities Maintain and manage accounting records for a portfolio of commercial properties (retail, office, or industrial). Prepare and analyze CAM reconcliations in accordance with tenant leases. Collaborate with property managers and leasing teams to ensure lease terms are accurately reflected in the accounting system. Calculate and bill tenants for monthly recurring charges, including rent, CAM, and other pass-throughs. Investigate and resolve tenant disputes related to reconciliations or billings. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets. Assist with annual budgets and property audits. Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls. Liaise with external auditors as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in property accounting, preferably in commercial real estate. Strong understanding of lease agreements and real estate terminology. Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks, RealPage, or similar). Advanced Excel skills and high attention to detail. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload.
