We are seeking an experienced Principal Investigator Archaeologist to lead archaeological projects across Texas and surrounding states. This position offers the opportunity to manage small to medium-sized projects, co-manage large projects, and serve as a field lead for Phase I-III archaeological investigations. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing our cultural resources team while conducting research, analyzing artifacts, and contributing to high-quality archaeological reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct archaeological fieldwork, identifying artifacts and determining the presence of archaeological sites
  • Collect and analyze data and field samples from historic and prehistoric sites
  • Document methodologies, findings, and research in reports and archaeological site forms
  • Review and write portions of archaeological reports under the guidance of the Senior Archaeologist or Section Head
  • Assist in decision-making for project alternatives and the resolution of adverse effects on archaeological resources
  • Collaborate with field, lab, and office staff to ensure projects meet company and professional standards
  • Support business development by assisting with proposals, budgets, and marketing materials as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in anthropology or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards for Archaeologists
  • Minimum of 5 years of archaeological experience, with at least 3 years in leadership roles
  • Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Heritage Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit
  • Regional experience in Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork
  • Experience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed
  • Must provide a writing sample from a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report
  • Provide at least three professional references with contact information

Preferred Skills:

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist or the ability to become registered
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGISPro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap, or other GIS tools
  • Significant lab and curation experience
