Summary

Under the direct administrative supervision of the Physical Medicine and Rehab Section Chief, the Charlie Norwood Veterans Affairs Medical Center is currently recruiting for a full-time Staff Physiatrist.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
• Degree: Doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
• License: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the US.
• Residency Training: Completed residency in an approved core specialty leading to eligibility for board certification. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers.
• Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred Experience: Inpatient Rehabilitation, stroke rehab, cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, MSK, EMG/NCV, TBI, SCI, amputee, orthopedic. Board certification and additional fellowship training are desirable.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform all activities of the position without restriction, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing stairs.

Duties

• Provide clinical services in neuromuscular and musculoskeletal injuries and disorders within a multidisciplinary team.
• Assist in diagnosing, treating, and directing rehabilitation plans for veterans with various conditions including pain, stroke, TBI, amputation, and post-operative recovery.
• Utilize non-surgical treatment methods such as medications, modalities, and whole health services.
• Experience with injections (joint, epidural, facet, ultrasound/EMG guided) and EMG testing preferred.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
