This individual will be responsible for managing the patent portfolio and mitigating new product risks across various Business Units within Milwaukee Tool. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with in-house attorneys and agents Advise engineering and marketing leadership on patentability and infringement risks for new products Develop and implement patent filing and searching strategies Act as liaison between engineering, marketing teams, subsidiaries, and outside counsel Provide guidance to engineering and marketing personnel on patent issues Present patent risks and updates to management, offering practical legal advice Participate in product development meetings to inform on patent landscape and identify inventions for protection Monitor competitor patent portfolios for strategic insights Prepare materials for the IP Review Committee to discuss patent risks and opportunities Analyze infringement positions, handle patent notices, and support IP litigation Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical or electrical preferred) Registered to practice before the USPTO Minimum 3 years experience in IP counseling, patent prosecution, and preparation Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills Attention to detail and self-motivation Ability to develop and execute IP strategies supporting business goals Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) plan Education assistance On-site wellness and amenities Milwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.
