Job Description

ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee general ledger accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.Prepare and analyze financial statements, including statements of financial position, statement of activities, and not-for-profit statements of cash flow, with a particular emphasis on fund accounting principles.Oversee and manage all aspects of QuickBooks, including data entry, reconciliations, and report generation.Manage deadlines for federal, state, and county requirementsPrepare and file all necessary non-profit tax returns (Form 990, etc.), ensuring timely and accurate submission. Review most recent filings to see what amendments are necessary.Provide strategic guidance on non-profit tax benefits and compliance, maximizing available tax advantages.Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for improving financial performance and efficiency.Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, with an emphasis on transitioning from manual spreadsheets to quickbooks in order to automate these tasks.Collaborate with internal and external auditors during annual audits.Review city and county invoices. Communicate with city and county accounting administration.Review city and county contracts, particularly large budget expenses such as insurance, benefits, and payroll.Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and tax laws, particularly those impacting non-profit organizations.Mentor staff members in order to foster the advancement of our entire teamQualificationsActive CPA license.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with QuickBooks.Proven expertise in fund accounting, specifically in preparing and interpreting financial statements for non-profit entities.Extensive experience preparing and filing non-profit tax returns.Strong understanding of non-profit tax benefits and regulations.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.Proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel.Preferred SkillsExperience with the highest levels and functions of QuickBooks.
