This position is for an Investigative Accounting Director. Workman Forensics is looking for a dynamic, investigative-minded professional with a problem-solving mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on communication, learning, and taking action —someone who can connect insights, engage clients, and drive results.

This position offers a commission-based compensation structure tied to revenue collected from billable hours. The ideal candidate is independent, reliable, and motivated by success. A successful hire will manage forensic accounting engagements, conduct financial investigations, and provide expert testimony.

Please note, Workman Forensics does not perform business valuations ; our focus is on investigative and forensic accounting services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage forensic accounting engagements to serve client needs.
  • Analyze financial data using the Data Sleuth® Process and tools to uncover fraud, misappropriation, and financial inconsistencies.
  • Process and normalize data provided in various formats.
  • Interpret and clearly communicate factual findings to clients, attorneys, and courts.
  • Prepare expert reports, including supporting tables and demonstratives.
  • Testify as an expert witness in federal and state courts , as needed.
  • Develop and maintain referral relationships to grow business opportunities.
  • Collaborate across teams on various forensic accounting projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven experience as a forensic accounting manager with a strong investigative mindset and ability to connect financial findings to real-world impacts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret financial data.
  • Confidence in solving complex problems with a client-focused approach.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Exceptional communication skills —written, verbal, and courtroom presentation.
  • Reputation for personal integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Strong skills in math and logic .

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 8 years accounting experience
  • Current CPA license required
  • At least one financial forensics certification required ( i.e. CFF, CFE, MAFF)
  • Prior testimony experience in state or Federal courts required
  • Previous experience as a forensic accounting manager required
  • Advanced knowledge and application of Microsoft Excel
  • IDEA/ACL or other analytic software experience preferred
  • On site employment in Salt Lake City, UT or Tulsa, OK.

TECHNOLOGY:

As part of the on-the-job training, we will provide videos explaining the purpose of each system used and how to navigate the system. This position will be required to learn and understand how to use the following technologies/programs:

  • Harvest
  • Asana
  • Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop and server
  • Guru
  • Hubspot (limited use)

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

HIRING PROCESS:

3. Candidates will be invited for a introductory interview and answer any questions about the firm.

4. Candidates will be invited to complete a sample project requiring data entry, data normalization, joins between datasets, and following instructions within the Data Sleuth® process.

5. Candidates selected from step 4 will be invited to a video interview with Workman Forensics Forensic Accounting Directors.
