Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Float Senior Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Astoria Blvd. location in Houston, Texas. The RN will float from the home site as needed, up to 10% of the time. The position can be Level I, II, or Senior based on candidate experience.

Long?Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)

Job Duties

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
  
  
  
• Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Ensure pre?authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration where applicable.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol/treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
  
  
  
  
  

Qualifications

Education/Training

Level I

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.
• Entry?level 03 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level II

• Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level Senior

• Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred.
• Oncology certification preferred.

Working Conditions

The work environment is typical of an oncology/hematology clinic and may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other usual clinical conditions. Physical Requirements

The physical demands include full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye?hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 40?lbs, and maintaining corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
