Job Description

The construction technical sales engineer is responsible for generating leads, advancing the sales process, communicating with customers, understanding their needs, and ensuring a smooth sales process; closing new business, and achieving/assisting in achieving opportunity-based sales quotas aligned with EJOT’s segment targets. The construction technical sales engineer will research to identify leads and reach business targets through in-person “cold calls”, referrals, telephone, email, web and by visiting job sites.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Identify new sales opportunities primarily within the construction industry by researching and qualifying new leads through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls, emails and job site visits.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist in service assessments and solution or service product development.
  • Gains competitive market analysis information and helps develop sales and marketing strategies for specific market sectors with continuous elaboration of competitor and market information.
  • Utilizes a “local market” approach to understand customers' fastening application needs and identify sales opportunities utilizing EJOT’s innovative and proprietary fastening solutions.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships up and down the decision chain, including with applicators, specifiers, and distributors.
  • Provide sales presentations to customer personnel when required.
  • Prepare technical proposals such as drawings, presentations, and case studies.
  • Maintain relationships with internal product managers to understand current and future technology states.
  • Become familiar with the EJOT global team and apply best practices, benchmarking, or other tools to grow the USA market.
  • Explaining and demonstrating features of products and services, both virtually and in a laboratory.
  • Staying informed about competing products and services.
  • Answer potential customers' questions and send additional information via email.
  • Achieve annual sales quotas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Experienced in construction systems such as Industrial lightweight building applications (roof & wall) building envelopes, rainscreens, insulation, solar products, etc.
  • Experience working with applicators, distributors, specifiers, and sub-component suppliers.
  • Demonstrated record of business development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiar with using virtual tools to market, develop, communicate, and train potential customers.
  • Comfortable marketing in a conference or technical show environment.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional sales and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, self-driven, and embraces the selling experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and CRM a plus.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Prolonged times for application support at job sites and visit project sites.
  • Prolonged time visiting the decision chain up and down, including applicator, specifier, and distributor when needed.
  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to stand for long periods in a trade show environment when needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Experienced in sales, construction business, and application knowledge
  • 5 – 10 years of application experience related to construction systems such as Industrial lightweight building applications (roof & wall), building envelopes, rainscreens, insulation, solar products, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability and interest to learn technical knowledge as it applies to the construction industry and joining technologies.
